Nausea? Don't Sweat It.

By Anna Snyder

Okay, so you are pregnant. One of the draw backs or symptoms is nausea and vomiting. Well this is not so fun, it is one of the things that comes with pregnancy (unless you are one of the lucky ones).

Nope, I was not lucky at all when it came to nausea and vomiting, instead, I had it the worst ever! I was sick day and night, throughout my entire pregnancy, up until I delivered. Yuck!

So a decision has to be made when you have your morning sickness (or all day sickness like me) to take the medication root or to grin and bear it. There is a lot of things out there that you can do to help yourself through this.

Tums are a great thing to chomp on when you are nauseated. Especially the peppermint ones, that it what I ate like candy when I was pregnant. They are packed with calcium, but your body generally only uses what it needs and the rest get flushed out as waste. You could also drink peppermint tea, which you can buy caffeine free.

You can also check with your OB/GYN in regards to herbal. Ginger is a great herb for soothing an upset tummy. If you don't want that, there are always ginger snap cookies that you can chomp on!

Salted or unsalted crackers is another nausea remedy. I used to keep a package right by my bedside, just in case I needed them. I also kept a package in my car, and peppermint tums in my purse.

Although all these lovely natural things worked for me with both of my pregnancies with my sons, my pregnancy with my daughter was even worse. With all of my pregnancies I always had one thing that would set me off the most, but when I was expecting her, it seemed like everything was not allowed in my tummy. Since I was loosing weight so quickly, my OB/GYN prescribed me Diclectin. It is a pregnancy safe drug (if you look at it, there is a picture of a pregnant mommy on it) and that was the only way that I could actually keep anything down.

With both my sons I was prescribed Diclectin as well, but I was determined not to use it in fear of anything that would disrupt my pregnancy or my baby. Although my fears were common, I know now that I should have done the research and calmed my fears. So when it came to my health and the health of my unborn baby (my daughter) I realized that I had no choice but to take Diclectin. I did the research and I did take the medication. My daughter is healthy and happy and to think that I could have lost her is now put behind me. Thank goodness for research! - 30526

The Secret Of Knowing When Is The Best Time To Conceive A Boy

By Allison Thompson

For any couple who would like to have a baby boy then their chances of doing so is much higher than they would have thought. According to a lot of research carried out the chances for any couple to have a boy rather than a girl is very high indeed. Yet if they were to learn about when is the best time to conceive a boy this will further increase their chances of doing so.

There are certain techniques that one can try and which will further boost the chances of a couple when trying to conceive a boy rather than a girl. In this article we look at just a couple of the methods a couple may want to consider using when attempting to have a baby boy. In both of the methods we discuss in the article we explain when is the best time to conceive a boy.

Method 1 - The Shettles Method

Through using this technique a couple is attempting to ensure that the sperm containing Y chromosomes is able to reach the egg before the sperm containing X chromosomes. Generally the sperm that contains Y chromosomes moves more quickly than that which contains the X chromosomes and this is something that couples will need to factor into the lovemaking if they are attempting to conceive a baby boy rather than a baby girl.

In his book "How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby: The Method Best Supported by Scientific Evidence" by Dr Shettles, he recommends that couples should have intercourse within 24 hours of the woman beginning to ovulate. Plus he also recommends that intercourse should not take less than 12 hours past the woman's ovulation period.

Along with him giving a specific time period in which to have intercourse he feels that by the man penetrating deeper into the woman will enable their sperm to be deposited closer to the cervix. This means that the more aggressive sperm that contains the Y chromosomes has in fact a head start in the fertilization process.

Method 2 - Whelan Method

This method was devised by Dr Whelan as she wanted to disprove the method mentioned above. If a couple want to have a boy then she feels that having intercourse during the early part of a woman's monthly cycle is crucial. In research carried out it has been found that 68% of the time those couples trying to conceive a baby boy have been able to do so following her method.

When it does come to finding out about when is the best time to conceive a boy there are different opinions and techniques that couples will hear about. Although not all these do help couples to achieve what they want some have. For some couples when the made changes to their diet which meant the eating more red meat and salty snacks this helped. Whilst for some other couples they tried the technique where before having intercourse the man drank coffee and this helped them to conceive a boy rather than a girl. - 30526
